Welcome to the website of the NSERC industrial research Chair on the interaction of heavy loads/climate/pavement of Laval University (Chair i3C). This research program resumed in summer 2008 under the direction of Guy Doré, Professor at the department of civil engineering of Laval University. Professor Doré is very active in the pavement engineering field, mainly in cold regions pavement engineering, and his previous and actual research accomplishments are now well recognized internationally.
This website provides information on the Chair i3C, its mission, objectives, technical program, project, team, partners, as long as the various aspects of its organization structure. The new research Chair aims at improving the knowledge on the interaction between heavy loads induced by transportation vehicles, structural and functional performance of pavements, and climate. Through a focused and well adapted research program, it is expected that the Chair i3C will develop efficient and applicable solutions to specific problems experienced by the transportation and pavement industry, adapted for the rigorous Canadian climate.
The research program has been developed and is conducted in close collaboration with the partners from the private and public sectors, municipalities, government and various transportation interested party. The following topics are examples of research subjects to be addressed by the Chair i3C:
